Journalism subsidies

under Section II of the Journalism Subsidies Act of 1984

On January 1, 2004, a new amendment (BGBl I No. 136/2003) to the Austrian Journalism Subsidies Act of 1984 went into effect. The Austrian Communications Authority (KommAustria) is now responsible for administering subsidies under Section II of the Journalism Subsidies Act.

Target group:
Periodicals published at least four times per year

The requirements for these subsidies can be found in the current version of the Journalism Subsidies Act of 1984, Section II.

Submission period:
Applications can be submitted to KommAustria in the first three months of each year.
Deadline: Applications have to be received by March 31.

Forms, copies of records, publisher's records

Payment:
Once annually

Decisions:
Grant award decisions are to be made by KommAustria with due consideration of the recommendations of the Journalism Subsidies Board. The Journalism Subsidies Board has issued additional guidelines.
