Spectrum 26 GHz (Point to Point)

This page document the historic use for point-to-point radios as of 2001. This band is within the future 26 GHz 5G mobile band.

This section provides historic information on past frequency procedures for point-to-point radios:

  • February 16, 2001: In the auction carried out in 2001, part of this spectrum was allocated to Star 21 and Broadnet Austria GmbH. The spectrum was subdivided into duplex channels of 2 x 28 MHz each and allocated in packages (A-E) of 2 to 4 duplex channels. In addition, the frequency packages were separated by a 28 MHz guard channel (RFQZ 5/00)
  • March 29, 2004: Transfer of shares in Star 21 Networks Österreich GmbH to RIZ Raiffeisen Informatik Zentrum Beteiligungs GmbH (later Centrowave Breitband Services GmbH) (F1/04).
  • July 19, 2004: Change of frequency allocation certificate (antenna characteristics RFQZ 5/00-39,5b/00-19).
  • February 21, 2005: Transfer of frequency usage rights from Broadnet Austria GmbH to eTel Austria AG (F2/04, application).
  • February 6, 2006: Change of frequency allocation certificate (connection of base stations) issued to Centrowave Breitband Services GmbH (F1/05).
  • July 17, 2006: RTR consultation on the allocation of frequencies in the 26 GHz band
  • August 2, 2006: Publication of comments and opinions on the consultation
  • April 2, 2007: In the auction carried out in 2007 wanother part of the spectrum was allocated to One GmbH (now Orange Austria Telecommunication GmbH) (F3/06-42).
  • April 25, 2007: eTel Austria AG relinquishes its usage rights (Package E in Regions 1, 2 and 6)

Historic channels in the 26 GHz band

The allocation procedure was based on channels with a bandwidth of 2 x 28 MHz. For the purpose of allocation, these channels were combined to form packages of 2, 3 or 4 channels.

The cutoff frequencies can be calculated for each channel using the following formula

  • Lower band:
    fu1=24521 + k * 28 MHz fu2= fu1+28 MHz (channel cutoff frequencies)
  • Upper band:
fo = fu + 1008 MHz (channel cutoff frequencies)

where k = [1..18]

Historic regions

For the purpose of allocation, Austria was subdivided into a total of 6 regions as shown in the figure below:

Historic technical conditions

  • The radio interfaces FSB-RR-013 (point-to-point systems), FSB-RR-033 and FSB-RR-034 (point-to-multipoint systems) are relevant to radio systems in this frequency band (as of February 2006; see Downloads).
  • The harmonized standards ETSI EN 302 326 and ETSI EN 302 217 define the relevant technical parameters
