Identity checks

This section describes the procedures used by certification-service-providers to check the identity of a person before issuing a certificate. Some services do not perform an identity check at all; instead, they might verify an e-mail address indicated by a signatory in a web form.
Under § 11 SigV, providers of qualified certificates are required to check the identity of a person by means of a valid photo identification card.
