The television premiere of the crime story “Die Toten vom Bodensee” is scheduled for Saturday, 11 October 2014, at 8.15 pm on ORF 2. The television movie was produced by Graf Filmproduktion GmbH and Rowboat Film- und Fernsehproduktion GmbH (Germany). The Austrian Television Fund (FERNSEHFONDS AUSTRIA) supported the production with a grant of EUR 315,000 (18.8% of the overall production costs of EUR 1.7 m).

International investigator duo searching for traces at Lake Constance

The dead body of a fisherman in Lake Constance and a mysterious trove aboard his wrecked boat pose riddles. Austrian police inspector Hannah Zeiler (Nora von Waldstätten) and her German counterpart Michael Oberländer (Matthias Koeberlin) are charged with the investigation of the case – and have to overcome not only national borders but also their contrariness. It turns out that the fisherman has been murdered and the two investigators gradually unveil details of his life. But there is more to come: a second dead body is found and, next to it, another mysterious Celtic mask similar to the one found on the fisherman’s boat.

The cast features numerous Austrian actors and actresses: Nora von Waldstätten in the leading female role, Doris Schretzmayer, August Schmölzer, Hary Prinz und Simon Morzé.

The Austrian Television Fund also supports the production of the second part of „Die Toten vom Bodensee“, which is currently shot (grant amount: EUR 338,000). Shooting locations are Bregenz, Lindau and Friedrichshafen as well as Klosterneuburg and Vienna.

The Austrian Television Fund (FERNSEHFONDS AUSTRIA), established at RTR, is the largest funding agency for television productions in Austria. Funding is provided for the production of television films, series and documentaries with a clearly discernable economic reference to Austria by production companies with business premises or a branch in Austria. The Austrian federal government makes available an annual budget of EUR 13.5 million. Additional information about the Austrian Television Fund can be found at www.fernsehfonds.at.
