The legal basis for subsidies for self-regulatory bodies for the press and commercial communication was created in June 2009. Since 1 January 2021, subsidies can also be granted to the self-regulatory body dedicated to the protection of minors.
KommAustria is responsible for the allocation of these subsidies.
Subsidies for the self-regulation in commercial communication
The Fund to Promote the Self-Regulation of Commercial Communication has an annual budget of €75,000. This amount can be awarded to a recognised self-regulatory body for the field of commercial communication in the media.
Subsidies for the self-regulation of the press
The Fund to Promote the Self-Regulation of the Press has an annual budget of €150,000. This amount can be awarded to a recognised self-regulatory body for the Austrian press.
Subsidies for the self-regulation for the protection of minors
Since 1 January 2021, subsidies can be granted to the self-regulatory body dedicated to the protection of minors. This fund has an annual budget of €75,000. This amount can be awarded to a recognised self-regulatory body for the protection of minors.
