Interactive Offerings
The portal consisted of 5 categories:
ATVplus, News, i-aktiv, Graz4you and Shopping.
In addition to show-specific information and various interactive functions, these categories also offered useful service tips as well as regional and national news. Special attention was paid to making the information clear and easy to understand and to user-friendly navigation within the portal. For example, specially developed shortcuts such as pressing the numbers 1 to 5 to access the 5 main menu items directly - made it easy to shorten these virtual navigation paths.
The i-aktiv category, which provides show-specific content, was defined as the portal‘s start page. In this way, viewers could immediately retrieve background information on the show currently on the air, a specific moderator or protagonist, as well as accessing useful service tips. Quizzes, contests and voting functions were also offered. In order to use these interactive functions, viewers used their television remotes to decide on two to four options using the number keys and to submit their answers. This feedback was passed on to the data processing center via the return channel (p. 80 ff). The voting results and quiz answers were published in the portal once this feedback was received.
