1.2.1.2 Investment quota

For the development of the telecommunications markets their readiness for innovation is of great importance. Therefore, it is reasonable to look at the development of the investment quotas.

Even if the investment quota of the telecommunications sector showed a clearly declining tendency in 2001, it was more than double of that of the overall economy. The high investment quota was due to the large investments in expanding the mobile networks, considerable investments in the fixed networks of Telekom Austria and the alternative fixed network operators. The financing crisis in the international telecommunications sectors which became noticeable more clearly at the beginning of 2002, did not yet find reflection in the data for 2001. In the context of the overall economy, it can be assumed for the next few years that telecommunications, despite major difficulties, will continue to be a growth factor.
