The RTR-NetTest was developed by the Austrian Regulatory Authority for Broadcasting and Telecommunications (RTR) in collaboration with software companies and can be carried out for any Internet provider, thus being to a large extent provider-independent.
The RTR-NetTest has been an open source project since its first release in 2013. Meanwhile, there are several other tests by regulatory agencies which are based on the RTR-NetTest. An overview of other tests using the open source code of the RTR-NetTest is given in the following table:
