Details 1800 MHz

In the past the 1800 MHz spectrum was exclusively used for GSM. Following the refarming decision of August 2014 the spectrum can be used for LTE.
The figure below shows the possible utilization of the frequency band for GSM.

On April 7, 2008, the European Commission published a decision and a recommendation regarding the operation of mobile communication services on aircraft (MCA services).
The Commission's decision defines the frequency-related technical requirements for the use of mobile telephones on aircraft. The recommendation defines rules for licensing.
Remark:

  • With decision F1/12 the change of ownership on Orange Austria Telecommunications GmbH, which is the outcome of the transfer of 100% of Orange Austria towards Hutchision 3G Austria Holdings GmH, has been approved (channels 632-659, 752-868).
