The supervisory body itself issues certificates for use with the body’s trust infrastructure. In terms of security, the certificates issued by the supervisory body largely comply with the security requirements applying to any qualified trust service provider. The certificates can be verified with the help of the trusted list.
On 24 September 2002 the public key infrastructure went live, with the original Top certificate being issued by the supervisory body. The certificate was renewed on 13 September 2005, on 2 June 2010 and on 11 January 2012. Valid certificates issued by the supervisory body contain an advanced electronic seal, which is directly or indirectly based either on the current TOP certificate or on the previous version.
A revocation list is issued at regular intervals. The list contains an advanced electronic seal, which is based on a certificate issued by the supervisory body.
