Austrian Television Fund (FERNSEHFONDS AUSTRIA): supported two-part Stonehenge TV documentary starts on 21 November

The two-part documentary presents the latest findings about Europe’s most famous prehistoric site. The production was supported by the Austrian Television Fund (FERNSEHFONDS AUSTRIA) with a grant of EUR 129,772; this corresponds to 7.9% of the overall production costs of EUR 1,646,040. The documentary is an international co-production of Interspot Film (Austria), October Films (UK) and Lightship Entertainment (Canada).

TV premiere in the Universum History series

The documentary will be broadcast in the framework of the Universum History series on ORF 2; broadcasting time is Friday, at 10:45 pm. The first part „Stonehenge – Rituale aus der Steinzeit“ will be shown on Friday, 21 November 2014, the second part „Stonehenge – Tempel des Lichts“ is to follow on 28 November.

Austrian high-tech methods unveil a new perspective on Stonehenge

Revolutionary archeological research methods allow for a new perspective on the cult site. With the leading participation of the Ludwig Boltzmann Institute, the “Stonehenge Hidden Landscape Project” visually removes the surface of the landscape surrounding Stonehenge, unearthing sensational findings.
The documentary’s first part unveils the true size of Stonehenge, illustrating that the stone circles are only the centre of a cult site of enormous scale.
The second part uncovers, among other findings, the complex astronomical and geometrical knowledge people had at the time.
