The Fund for the Promotion of Digital Transformation
The Fund for the Promotoion of Digital Information was set up at RTR Media in the KommAustria Act (KOG).
Funding decisions are made by RTR Media’s Managing Director after consultation with the review board in accordance with the funding objectives.
The fund is intended to contribute to strengthening media companies and their digital services and reinforce the vital role of media in a modern, democratic society.
There are two types of funding:
1. Project funding
Funding objectives:
- Digital transformation
This funding objective includes measures for the transformation and increased digitalisation of the media landscape. - Digital journalism
This funding objective includes measures to strengthen journalism in an increasingly digital media landscape, such as in particular the provision of funds for the training of journalists as well as further training measures, and the promotion of training centres and internships in the area of digital journalism - Protection of minors and accessibility
This funding objective includes measures to improve the protection of minors and make content accessible.
2. Incentive funding
This funding is provided to businesses that are working toward one or more funding objectives in connection with a concrete project and where the funding is not only used to finance ongoing business activities. A condition for this funding is regular reporting on the use of the funds to achieve the funding objectives.
